HVCH AUXILIARY PREPARES FOR CELEBRATION OF LIGHTS

At this holiday time of year, we often look for the opportunity to remember our loved ones, and the annual Hocking Valley Community Hospital Auxiliary’s long standing tradition of the “Celebration of Lights” in Worthington Park offers this beautiful opportunity.
The Celebration of Lights is an event where family and friends may make a contribution in memory or in honor of loved ones and lights on the tree in the park represent their loved ones. The Auxiliary also places a gold star in the hospital’s back lobby with the names of the loved ones being honored or remembered. The names will be read, by volunteer readers, at a special tree lighting Celebration this Sunday, Dec. 2nd, at 5:30 p.m., in Worthington Park. The ceremonial reading of names takes place at the gazebo.

This year the Hocking County Farm Bureau donated the tree for the celebration. JoAnn Murtha, Hocking County Farm Bureau, President, stated “Hocking County Farm Bureau is happy to donate the tree for this unique fundraiser and to acknowledge the tree farms in Hocking County. Each year the Farm Bureau also selects a children’s book that portrays farm life. This year’s book is titled “Christmas Tree Farm” and is authored by Ann Purmell.”

“Everyone is invited to attend the ceremony.  It is a beautiful, peaceful, time in the park and a great time to think of others,’ shared Norma Geiger, HVCH Auxiliary President. As always the traditional hot chocolate will be served, free of charge, by the Auxiliary members.
To participate and have a loved one recognized at the Celebration, contributions may be made in memory or in honor of loved ones.  The donation is $5.00 to honor or memorialize an individual, $10.00 to honor or memorialize a family, and $25.00 donation to honor a business.

As final preparations are underway, if one wants to have someone recognized at this Sunday’s tree lighting, please call the HVCH Community Relations Department by this Friday before 4 p.m. at 380-8110.
