Dementia presentation helps caregivers, staff

The staff of The Summit Behavioral Health Unit at Hocking Valley Community Hospital has combined their experience and knowledge to create an educational presentation for caregivers and facility staff.

This presentation was created to help caregivers be better equipped in managing the symptoms of dementia. The information in the presentation includes: what to expect from the dementia patient, effective communication tips, and develop behavior management techniques.

The presentation – titled “Management of the Dementia Patient” – has been presented by Amber Kienzle, RN, to many area agencies, the hospital board, and most recently the Hocking Co. EMS. Our goal is to raise awareness and provide skills to best handle the symptoms of dementia. The presentation is approximately 30 minutes in length.
