Dr. Brian Still retires from Hocking Valley Medical Group

After more than 34 years of service, Dr. Brian Still, D.O., has retired from Hocking Valley Medical Group.

“The decision to move on to my next life adventure called retirement was not made lightly and I will certainly miss seeing all my patients and coworkers. Over the past 34 years we have had many lively discussions, developed trusted relationships and many friendships. I am saddened but also looking forward to having more time for my family, hobbies and whatever else comes along,” Dr. Still said. “I want to thank everyone for the kindness and support I have received over the years.”

Dr. Still graduated medical school from Ohio University College of Osteopathic Medicine and completed his family practice residency at Doctors Hospital. He is board certified in family medicine. When he was looking for a place to practice in 1990, he immediately looked at Logan and eventually bought out another doctor’s practice in the city. He served as a family care physician in private practice, as well as a provider in Hocking Valley Community Hospital’s Emergency Room.

In 2008, HVCH introduced a hospitalist program, offering patients better physician access while being hospitalized and giving primary care physicians more time to care for patients in their offices. Dr. Still and Dr. John Ireton were the two providers to pilot this program.

“Hospitalists are physicians whose primary focus is the general medical care of hospitalized patients. By focusing on these patients, they can address the unique aspects of their needs during the hospital stay,” Stacey Gabriel, HVCH President & CEO, explained. “A hospitalist spends most of their workday in the hospital and can be available anytime to provide patient care.”

Dr. Still served in the role of hospitalist until 2012 before relocating to Holzer Health System and continuing his private practice. He returned to Hocking Valley Medical Group’s Rural Health Clinic in 2019 and resumed his role as a family care provider. Over his many years of service, Dr. Still has served in leadership roles both with Hocking Valley Medical Gorup and Hocking Valley Community Hospital including Medical Director.

“Dr. Still has cared for so many in this community and we will miss seeing him at the Rural Health Clinic. We know this next chapter is much deserved and we wish him nothing but the best,” Gabriel said.
