For nearly half a century, Hocking Valley Community Hospital Foundation has worked hand in hand with our local hospital to strengthen health care for every person in our community with a mission to enhance care for patients and our community through philanthropy and partnership. The Foundation exists to ensure that Hocking Valley Community Hospital continues to provide the highest quality of care — right here at home. Every donation, large or small, directly improves the health and well-being of our neighbors, our families, and our friends.
“For 45 years, the Foundation has been a bridge linking the well-being of our community to the sustainability of our hospital,” says Latricia Johnston, Chief Public Relations Officer. “Since 1980, the Foundation has served as that vital bridge — connecting compassionate donors with life-changing projects. Together, we’ve invested in facility renovations, technology, and spaces that make care more comfortable and effective for everyone.”
Donor generosity over the past 45 years has made an incredible difference, enabling the hospital’s Foundation to:
- Purchase the Crow Medical Complex, where providers deliver high-quality primary and pediatric care services.
- Enabled the construction of the Medical Arts Building, home to the Pain Clinic.
- Upgraded the Emergency Room Waiting Area to provide a more welcoming, healing space for patients and families.
- Renovated the Hospital Cafeteria and Courtyard, creating areas for comfort, nourishment, and reflection.
- Provided essential medical equipment and training materials to keep staff and services at the highest level of care.
“These are just a few of the many accomplishments are donors have made possible, and they are more than buildings and renovations — they are investments in people, in health, and in our shared future,” said Johnston.
“One thing that truly sets us apart is our commitment to transparency and impact,” said Johnston. “Every single dollar you donate stays right here — supporting equipment, technology, programs, and services at our hospital. The hospital covers all administrative costs, so your entire gift goes exactly where it’s needed most.”
Celebrating its 60th anniversary in 2026, Hocking Valley Community Hospital is a 25-bed critical access hospital serving the heart of the Appalachian region of Ohio. Johnston says “Each year, our hospital provides over $6 million in uncompensated care — ensuring that no neighbor, no family, and no friend goes without help. This is what community healthcare looks like at its best — compassionate, local, and deeply rooted in service.”
In honor of the Foundation’s 45th anniversary, it is launching an exciting new initiative — the Bridge2Care Fund. This fund continues the mission of building connections — bridging generosity and compassion with the hospital’s promise to care for our community.
“Right now, you have a unique opportunity to become a founding member of the Bridge2Care Society. Your gift of $2,500 — whether a one-time contribution or pledged over three years — makes you part of something lasting and deeply meaningful. Founding members will be honored on our donor wall, invited to a special 2026 anniversary dinner, and receive a keepsake celebrating your role in this milestone year. Every donation — every act of generosity — helps strengthen the hospital’s ability to care for our community. When you give, you’re not just supporting healthcare. You’re investing in hope, healing, and the health of generations to come. As we look ahead to our hospital’s 60th anniversary in 2026, we invite you to help us continue building this bridge — from generosity to care, from today into the future. Together, we can ensure exceptional care close to home — for the next 60 years and beyond.” To learn how you can become part of the Bridge2Care Fund, call 740-380-8336 today.
