Hocking Valley Community Hospital recently completed an active shooter drill to practice response policies and procedures. This was a joint drill with the Hocking County Sheriff’s Office, the Logan Police Department, and Adam Newlan from Tri-County Career Center’s Criminal Justice Program.
“We would like to extend our sincere gratitude to the organizations and individuals who played a vital role in the planning, coordination, and execution of our recent active shooter preparedness drill. Their expertise, guidance, and commitment to public safety were instrumental in helping us conduct a realistic and valuable training exercise,” Angela Schetter, HVCH Emergency Preparedness Coordinator, said. “We would like to specifically recognize Captain Gabriel and Chief Mellinger of the Logan Police Department, as well as Chief Deputy Stack, Captain Champ, and Deputy Bell of the Hocking County Sheriff’s Office. Their leadership and hands-on involvement were invaluable throughout the planning process and during the execution of the exercise.”
Preparedness exercises such as this allow hospital staff to practice emergency response procedures in a controlled environment, identify opportunities for improvement, and strengthen coordination with community partners.
“The safety of our patients, visitors, staff, and community remains one of our highest priorities. Strong partnerships with local law enforcement and emergency preparedness professionals are essential to maintaining that commitment,” Schetter said.
