Supporting families through community baby shower

Hocking Valley Community Hospital, in partnership with Hocking County EMS, successfully hosted an infant CPR education session during the recent Community Baby Shower event, reaching approximately 30 families from across Hocking County.

This collaborative effort focused on equipping new and soon-to-be parents with essential life-saving skills, including recognizing infant distress, performing effective CPR, and responding appropriately to choking emergencies. The hands-on training emphasized confidence-building and practical application in real-life situations.

Instruction was led by a multidisciplinary team of healthcare and emergency response professionals, including Angela Schetter, RN (HVCH), Audriana Murray, EMT-P (HCEMS), and Brandon Watkins, AEMT (HCEMS). Each instructor brought valuable clinical and field experience, providing participants with well-rounded, evidence-based guidance.

The session was well received, with strong engagement from attendees who expressed appreciation for the opportunity to learn critical safety skills in a supportive and accessible environment. This initiative highlights the ongoing commitment of both organizations to community health, prevention, and education.

Through partnerships like this, Hocking Valley Community Hospital and Hocking County EMS continue to strengthen community preparedness and empower families with the knowledge needed to protect their youngest members.
